Why Are Hen Party Houses A Good Idea?
When it comes to choosing where to stay for a hen weekend, there is a range of options. Most hen groups wanting maximum freedom and relaxed vibes choose one of the following:
- Hen party houses
- Hen party cottages
- Hen do apartments
- Hen party forest lodges
We would always recommend booking a hen party house, cottage or apartment for your weekend away with the girls rather than a hotel. That said, Glamping is definitely a fun option too.
Renting a house for your hen weekend is one of the most popular choices, purely because it gives you by far the most ‘together’ kind of experience, especially if you are a large group of hens.
You’ll have your own kitchen so you can either cook together or bring in a professional caterer to make you all a big fancy meal.
The other huge benefit of renting a house for your hen do is that often the large group houses come with really fun features such as:
- Jacuzzi or Swimming pool
- Open fireplace
- Tennis court
- Sauna
- Disco room
- Cinema
Can your Instagram account really say no to any of that?!

What we LOVE about Kate & Tom’s is the feature that lets you search by a key feature of the property. For example, you can search only for houses that have a private Tennis court (perfect for a Wimbledon-themed hen?), or houses with an indoor pool or that are near the beach.
They have some truly stunning houses that you won’t be able to stop instagramming once you arrive!

What we particularly like about Party Houses is their attention to the requirements of guests with a disability. They’ve made sure that where possible, their houses have wheelchair access and ground-floor bedrooms and wet rooms and they can also lend you any ramps or a Deafguard to ensure that all guests are safe in their properties.

You’ll find a vast selection of hen do houses on Celebration Cottages and there is something to fit every group size too. The largest we could find on their site was a “cottage” that sleeps 40 HENS! So this is a great option if you are looking for extra large hen party houses.
They also offer fun add-ons like celebration balloons being organised for your arrival at the property or a chef being there to cook a meal for you.
We also really like that on their website they show you the bed configurations for each house so you can easily sort out sleeping arrangements – handy!
Hen Party Houses FAQ
1. How much does it cost to rent a house for a hen party?
Renting an entire house for your hen weekend isn’t necessarily a cheap option, however it also doesn’t have to cost the earth. The big advantage of booking as a large group means you can take advantage of group discounts and split the cost of the accommodation between you.
Hen do houses start at around £300 per night and can cost up to several thousand pounds per night, depending on the size, location and amenities.
If you’re just looking to book a hen do apartment in the city then prices are much cheaper, from around £100 per night.
2. What is the maximum number of guests hen party houses can sleep?
Definitely one of the main reasons for choosing to rent a country house for your hen do is the fact that there are some HUGE options around the UK and therefore there is bound to be a place that can house your whole hen party. The largest number of guests at one property we have come across so far is about 50 hens – but let us know if you’ve got somewhere that can house more!
3. Is there a minimum number of nights to stay at a hen do house?
If your hen party is taking place over the weekend then there is likely to be a minimum stay requirement usually of 2-3 nights. If your group is super flexible and can fit in a hen party during the week then the accommodation providers are likely to be more flexible and you’ll probably get a cheaper rate too!
4. How far in advance should you book hen party houses?
This depends on how flexible you are on location and cost, as well as how many hens you are bringing with you. If you’ve got a specific area you’d like to stay in then we recommend trying to have your hen accommodation pinned down at least 6 months in advance. If you need help on the timeline of organising the hen do, check out our free hen party planning checklist!
5. Do you have to pay a deposit for a hen party house?
Almost definitely. Paying a security deposit of around 20% is completely normal when booking any kind of group accommodation, and it is even more standard for hen and stag parties due to the nature of the event. Check with your provider to see how much you need to set aside for this. Try not to break anything and you’ll get it back after your stay!
